What's in a Name?--
Passports v. Library Web Page
As Laura Rein, Dean of the University library explains, a query of library staff and extended campus directors revealed that “users often do not know that Passports is our library Web page and become confused when asked to use it.” She said that of the extended campus directors who responded to the survey, 90% were in favor of dropping the Passports name. “Based on this feedback and our own staff’s experience with confused users," she said, "we will drop the name in the new design...Thanks to all of you who responded to help make the library Web page more user friendly!” The URL to the new design is the same (http://library.webster.edu), and it includes all the former main page links plus a pull-down menu of “library quick links." Many thanks to LeAnne Balzer, Library Systems Coordinator , who worked with the library Web committee and the Office of Marketing to design the new site. Please continue to promote the wonderful resources available on the libary's new and improved Web site to your faculty and students. Albuquerque Graduation
When entering new course sections into the Catalog Maintenance portion of CARS, please remember to leave the “Bill Code” field blank. If there is text in this field when you are entering a new course section, remove the information as it could cause billing errors. The Bursar’s Office runs a report which determines the correct information for the field.

A logo is intended to represent the essence and identity of an organization in an easy-to-recognize graphical form. As such, it is important that, when using the Webster logo in your communications, you are careful to maintain that identity by adhering to the guidelines for its use. The Office of Marketing has provided those guidelines on the University Identity Web page. |

Every fall Webster University sponsors a campus-wide community service day, Webster Works Worldwide (WWW). Students, faculty, staff, and alumni from Webster campuses around the world work in teams to help nonprofit organizations with a variety of projects including light construction work, tutoring, painting, yard work, working with children or seniors, park and forest restoration, consulting, and fine arts projects. During the past 14 years, more than 18,000 volunteers have given more than 80,000 hours of service! Webster Works Worldwide 15 is set for October 7, 2009. And this year, Heather Arora will be overseeing the program, replacing Jennifer Willis. She will be working closely with Dana Jones to coordinate your campus service projects. Heather comes to Webster from the Missouri Botanical Garden, where she has served as Public Events Coordinator since 2001. At the Garden, Heather was responsible for producing such major events as the Japanese Festival, the Whitaker Music Festival summer concert series, and Chinese Culture Days. Prior to the Garden, Heather was Special Events Coordinator for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, where she worked on the organization's MS 150 Bike Tour, the MS Walk and the U.G.L.Y. Bartender Challenge. Catalog Update The online 2009-10 graduate catalog is now available, and that format will continue to be the most up-to-date version. The printed graduate catalog will begin shipping the week of August 3. A PDF of the entire catalog (same file as the printed version) is currently available on the table of contents page of the online catalog. The PDF will also be on CD and distributed early September. Major or program sheets will soon be available via PDF on the table of contents page of the online catalog. The sheets can be printed as needed at a local vendor or by request to Webster's Mail & Copy Solutions department. |
