--A bi-weekly digest of news and information for the Webster University extended campus community.--

Did You Know?.......

Study Abroad is not just for undergrads. Webster University’s international campuses provide a study abroad option for graduate students as well.

To be eligible, graduate students must have completed 9 credit hours, be in good academic and financial standing, and submit their application by the program deadline. Study abroad program deadlines are as follows for 8-week terms:

  • Summer :   February 15
  • Fall :    March 15
  • Spring :  September 15

Before applying, students must review projected schedules at Webster's Study Abroad Web site (visit “course offerings” at each campus link) and discuss their options with their academic advisor.  Courses are often not finalized until one month prior to departure.  It is best to choose alternate courses, be flexible and possibly take an elective. For more information, check out the following links:

Conferring on Counseling

The home campus was host last week to the third and final regional counseling workshop for directors and faculty coordinators to discuss implementation of changes in Webster's counseling program. The other workshops were in Charleston, SC, and Jacksonville, FL.

Pictured here are (seated, clockwise from front left) Julie Loyet, Carolyn Cottrell, Richard Recor, Brian Daly, Heather Henderson-Galligan, Stacy Henning, Ellen Driber-Hassal, Randy Wright, El Bolsen, Ben Shriver, and Harry Schuler. Standing are Gene Chavez and David Wilson.

While We're on the Subject........

You may recall our recent correspondence regarding the handling of COUN 6500 in CARS. If you need a refresher on that issue, please consult the following information put together by Lori Sherrill:

New Admission Service Line for Extended Campuses

The Office of Admission is pleased to announce the implementation of a new Service Line for the Extended Sites: 314-246-8952.

This line is intended to allow direct access to the Processing team for the extended sites and should not be given to students.  In addition, we have created a new general email address to reach the Processing Team: admprocessing@webster.edu

By using the Service Line and the general email address, your question can be answered even if your primary contact person is not available.

Shaw AFB Graduation

On August 7, fifteen students (top photo) were graduated at the Shaw Air Force Base Campus in Sumter, SC.  The Commander of the Mission Support Group, Colonel Ted T. Uchida, was the speaker.

Pictured in the bottom photo are John Anthony Dukes (Faculty Coordinator, Shaw AFB), Colonel Ted T. Uchida (Commencement speaker), his wife Denis, Shentilla Ballard (Webster Representative, Shaw AFB), Michelle R. Deatrick Cannon (Director, Shaw AFB) and Dr. David Dunlap (SC Regional Director).

Mr. Dukes observed that the spontaneous congratulatory handshakes between students and faculty at the end of the ceremony "clearly demonstrated ...that Webster professors are focused on good teaching... It is nice to see that our students recognize this. It is also rewarding to know that...the priorities of the University and its professors are aligned."

Adjunct Faculty Letters of Appointment

As we announced recently, Academic Affairs has begun e-mailing letters of appointment to adjunct faculty, as of the Fall 1 term. As a means of transition, hard copies were also mailed for the Fall 1 term. However, beginning with the Fall 2 term, letters of appointment will only be e-mailed to the faculty member's Webster e-mail address. Therefore, it is important that faculty know and use their Webster e-mail address. We have provided a handy flyer that you may print and post to help your faculty prepare for this new method of delivery for their letters of appointment.
