Getting Involved

Representatives from our Thailand and London campuses recently visited the home campus to get acquainted with the administrators and departments with which they regularly interact. While they were here, they had the opportunity to take part in the annual Student Involvement Fair and encourage students to consider getting involved in study abroad.

Webster’s Electronic Billing Statement and Payment System

The Bursar's Office reminds us that, starting this month, paper statements will no longer be mailed. Students will receive an e-mail (at their webster.edu address) each time a statement is published. If they prefer, they may change or add additional e-mail addresses as well.

Please remind your students to use their Connections ID and logon to view their statements. Students can also set up view and payment access for authorized payers.

Need more information? Visit the Bursar web page to view an Online Tutorial, check out our Frequently Asked Questions section, or download a Guide to Viewing Electronic Statements and Paying On-Line.

Coming Up: the 2009 Worldwide Directors Meeting

Directors from every part of the Webster world will be converging on the home campus for the annual Worldwide Directors meeting, September 20-23. The theme this year is "Welcome Home! Celebrating Consistency, Collaboration and Change."

And while the cat's away....

A Late Summer Night's Dream

It was a dark and stormy night, approaching the witching hour, as little fairies ventured out, spreading their green fairy dust in Academic Affairs. As the fairy dust came to rest on adjunct letters of appointment, paper started whirling through the air and suddenly took off, flying at rapid speed to their final destination. Each adjunct awoke the next morning to the wonders of having their letter of appointment in their e-mail inbox.

Or……………on a calm Thursday (September 3rd), through the “magic” of technology and programmers working with Academic Affairs, Theresa Altmann was able to run a program that scheduled e-mail letters of appointment to be sent to adjuncts at 11:00 p.m. Adjuncts did find their new electronically delivered letters in their inboxes the next morning.

It appears that our first electronic adjunct letters of appointment went very smoothly. We wish to thank all those in Information Technology and Academic Affairs that made this leap into the 21st century possible. Paper letters of appointment were mailed this week. Please remember: beginning Fall 2, Academic Affairs goes green by sending ONLY electronic adjunct letters of appointment.

Wishes do come true…

... into the Catalog Maintenance portion of CARS, please remember to leave the “Bill Code” field blank. If there is text in this field when you are entering a new course section, remove the information as it could cause billing errors. The Bursar’s Office runs a report which determines the correct information for the field.
