Waitlist

When a class is full, subsequent students who attempt to register for those courses are automatically put on a waitlist, if the waitlist for that section is enabled.

Waitlists are reviewed daily during the open registration period. If a spot opens up in a course with a waitlist, the first student waiting will be enrolled in the course provided there are no conflicts. The student will receive a confirmation of their registration in to the course via their Webster email.

If a spot is available in another section of the same course, the student will be emailed to see if they would like to be enrolled in the available section or remain on the waitlist for the chosen section. Students will not be moved off the waitlist into the other section without their confirmation. If the student does not respond within 1 business day, the next student on the waitlist will be reviewed.

If any student remains on the waitlist the week prior to the term/semester start, the student will be contacted by an advisor to determine alternate plans for enrollment.

A student cannot be added to the waitlist once the term/semester has started. Any student who remains on the waitlist after the end of the drop/add period will be removed from the waitlist. The student will receive email communication regarding this action.

If a course has an increasing waitlist, the home department or campus will be contacted to determine if an additional section should be opened or if an advisor should work with the student to find determine alternative course options.
Advisors, faculty, and other staff should honor the waitlist process. If a class is closed, and a waitlist is available, advisors, faculty, and other staff are not permitted to override the course cap and ignore the waitlist or course cap. Advisors, faculty, and other staff are expected to utilize the waitlist process. If the instructor approves a course cap overload, students on the waitlist will be enrolled in the order they were placed on the waitlist.

The Office of Academic Advising monitors the waitlist process. Any questions about the waitlist should be directed to this office.
