What we do:
The Office of Public Affairs serves as advocates for the University by building and maintaining positive relationships with the public. It enhances the image and reputation of the University by increasing awareness and appreciation for the variety and quality of University faculty, staff, students, administrators and programs locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Areas of responsibility focus on public relations encompassing media relations, community relations, sports information and government relations.
The OPA gathers, disseminates and manages information from all components of the University (including the extended campuses) and communicates key messages to both internal and external audiences (the general public and the media).
How we do it:
| Gather information from University offices and extended campuses to communicate newsworthy items to both internal and external audiences |
| Identify and cultivate media contacts to secure interviews for University leaders, faculty members and students, as well as coverage of University events and programs |
| Work with external public relations firms to assist with national media placements |
| Plan and implement University-wide special events, including major speakers, conferences, and community outreach programs, and the annual WebsterWorksWorldwide community service day |
| Develop and maintain the online University activities calendar |
| Design and coordinate installation of street and parking lot banners, and all flag displays at the St. Louis campus |
| Develop themes, select and approve placement of annual positioning advertising campaign for the St. Louis campus |
| Coordinate institutional photography with Marketing Department and maintain St. Louis campus photo galleries |
