SSM RN to BSN Cohort Program

SSM Health Care Partnership

In partnership with SSM Health Care, Webster University is pleased to offer an RN to BSN program, open exclusively to employees of SSM.

Webster University's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is designed for the registered nurse who wishes to advance his or her knowledge in nursing, the sciences, and the liberal arts. The program helps the registered nurse develop analytic and communication skills for professional excellence.

Each RN to BSN cohort is limited to a maximum of 18 students. Classes are held from 5:30-9:30 p.m. once each week. Spring cohorts will begin January 13, 2014, at both the SSM Education Learning Center and Webster University's WingHaven campus. Classes will be held on Monday evenings at the SSM Education Learning Center, 10101 Woodfield Lane, Suite 150, St. Louis, Mo., 63132. The day of the week for classes at Webster University's WingHaven campus, located at 2299 Technology Drive, Suite 300, O'Fallon, Mo., 63368, has not been determined.

Space in the cohort program is available by applying via: apply.webster.edu. The $35 application fee is waived for SSM employees. The waiver code is communicated by SSM. The deadline for applying for the next RN to BSN cohort is December 2, 2013. We will accept the first 18 applicants that meet admission requirements. Additional applicants will be placed on a wait list.

To schedule a preadmission interview, please contact the Nursing Department at 314-968-7483.

If you have any questions, contact Sarah Nandor, Webster University Office of Admission, at 314-246-7109 or nandor@webster.edu.

Electives

The number of additional credits needed to complete the 128 credit hours required for the BSN degree is determined through individual assessment of transcripts.

Note to Students: All SSM employees accepted into the RN to BSN on-site cohort are required to complete all courses as listed above. Any break in enrollment (i.e. course drop/withdrawal, non-attendance, stop-out, course failure) voids participation in this cohort program; however, students may continue their educational pursuits with Webster University at the prevailing tuition rate. Please note that the BSN in Nursing is only offered at Webster University's main campus in Webster Groves, Mo., or online.

Admission and Progression Requirements

  • Current licensure (or eligibility for licensure) as a registered nurse
  • Completion of a Webster University undergraduate application for admission
  • Pre-admission academic planning with a BSN faculty member
  • Transcripts from a nursing school and all college institutions from which academic credit has been granted
  • Grade-point average (GPA) of 2.5 in previous scholastic work
  • Current resume

To progress through the program, nursing courses (NURS) must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher.  In addition, in courses with a clinical component, students must receive a grade of “Satisfactory” in the clinical portion of the course in order to pass the course.  Unsatisfactory completion of the clinical component of the course results in automatic failure of the course.  Students may repeat a specific nursing course only one time and no more than two nursing courses may be repeated during the program.
