Criminology & Criminal Justice | Webster University

Criminology & Criminal Justice

Students in the criminology degree program learn about crime, deviance, and the American criminal justice system. Working toward a degree in criminology or criminal justice, students explore the issues of greatest interest to criminologists working in the field today.

At Webster University, the criminology curriculum combines the fundamentals of criminology and criminal justice into one field of study. The courses focus on training in multiple data-analysis methods commonly used by criminologists and criminal justice professionals. Studying crime and deviance with a particular emphasis on critical-thinking skills, students learn the ways professionals explain, predict, and prevent crime and victimization.

The master's program provides a multidisciplinary approach to the wider criminal justice system, with particular emphasis on enhancing technical skills, critical thinking skills, decision-making processes, and increasing analytic capabilities to provide students with the ability to explain, predict, and prevent crime and victimization. In addition to the core curriculum, students will need to complete 18 credit hours of elective courses from a variety of concentrations, including administration of justice, fraud investigation, cybersecurity/threat detection, and security studies.
