Complementing the overall educational experience, the multicultural studies certificate program is an interdisciplinary course of study designed to cultivate critical engagement with diversity and difference in the United States.
This undergraduate program examines the formation, intersection, and politics of identities and communities like race, ethnicity, national origins, gender, sexuality, and disability. Students will develop the knowledge and skills they need to appreciate and navigate the complexity of twenty-first century America -- skills like intercultural competence, empathy, and cultural self-awareness. Coursework in multicultural studies provides the background and tools necessary for effective and responsible citizenship in a multicultural society.
