Le Centre Francophone
Made possible by the Jane and Bruce Robert Endowment, Le Centre francophone in St. Louis was created by Dr. Lionel Cuillé in 2012 with the goal of promoting French and Francophone cultures in St. Louis—a city with one of the strongest French heritages in the United States.
Le Centre francophone has three main missions:
Organizing cultural events : Le Centre invites French and francophone speakers, writers, and scholars to St. Louis and organizes special events by working closely with the Services culturels of the French Consulate in Chicago, and the Institut français (IF).
Hosting workshops for the continuing education of high school teachers of French in the St Louis area. Le CF partners with the Educational Affairs of the French Embassy in Washington.
Promoting existing French and francophone programming in the St. Louis region such as the St Louis International Film Festival (SLIS), the annual French play, the Concours de rédaction de l’Alliance française, and various activities for our students at Webster University. The CF maintains a Facebook group which shares the activities of all Francophone organizations in St Louis (Alliance française, Société française, St Louis-Lyon Sister cities, Les Amis, and AATF).
