Ricardo N. Falla has been designated as the new Trade Commissioner of Ecuador to Sweden in January 2017. He served as Investment Promotion Officer at the Trade Office of Ecuador in Chicago since August of 2014, with oversight to the 12 states of the Midwest. As Investment officer he oversaw the investment promotion activities of Ecuador in the Midwest, helped Investors from the region take advantage of investment opportunities in the Ecuadorian territory as well as advice on Ecuadorian Investment Policy and the incentives provided by the government. He also managed the Public Relations of the Office as well as the International Cooperation Agenda between Ecuador and organizations in the Midwest region, to forward the mission of PROECUADOR and that of the Ministry of Foreign Trade.
Mr. Falla served as Investment Adviser to H.E. Richard Espinosa, Coordinating Minister of Production, Employment and Competitiveness (March 2013–July 2014). He also served as Director of Investor Services and Business Development (October 2012–February 2013) and Foreign Trade Policy Specialist (April 2012–September 2012) at the Coordinating Ministry of Production, Employment and Competitiveness. Mr. Falla is CEO at his family firm, Falla & Leon International, based in Quito, Ecuador (June 2010 to present).
Mr. Falla holds a MA in International Relations (2011) and a BA in International Relations (2009) from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri and a Certificate of Mandarin Language (2008) from Fudan University in Shanghai, China.
