Lionel Cuillé is a specialist of nineteenth- and twentieth-century French literature.  He has published articles on poets Francis Ponge, Cendrars, and Rimbaud.  His research examines the relationship between turn-of-the-century technologies of transport and communication and the avant-garde.  Professor Cuillé is Director of the Centre Francophone, which invites authors and guest speakers to Webster University, promotes French film series, and offers continuing education to high school French teachers.  Thanks to the activities of the Centre Francophone, Professor Cuillé hopes to encourage Webster students to explore the richness and complexities of this culture and to contribute to the various Francophone associations in St. Louis.
