BIOGRAPHY

Janice Palmer, PhD, RN, CNE, is an Associate Professor and the Chair of the Department of Nursing. She holds a BSN from the University of Missouri–Columbia, a master's of science in gerontology from the University of Missouri–St. Louis, and a PhD in Nursing from Saint Louis University.

She has worked as an RN in many settings including acute care, outpatient surgery, home care, and long-term care. From 1994 to 2007, as a research instructor, she worked in several roles at the Washington University Memory Diagnostic Center, Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, and the Center for Aging. Most recently she was a full-time faculty member at Saint Louis University School of Nursing from 2009 to 2016 where she served as the RN to BSN Option Coordinator from 2010 to 2016 and the Assistant Dean of Special Projects from 2013 to 2015.

Jan's teaching interests include nursing concepts, theory, leadership and management, growth and development, and gerontology. Jan is a member of the National Gerontological Nurses Association (NGNA) and Delta Lambda At-Large, which is a chapter of the nursing honor society, Sigma Theta Tau International.
