Biography
Barbara Salera, PhD, is an Adjunct Professor of International Relations in the Online Program at Webster University. She received her PhD in 2013 from Washington State University and has given lectures in the United States, Europe, and Africa. She has field research experience in Malawi and Tanzania and can speak Spanish, French, and Swahili. She is also a past recipient of the National Security Education Program’s Boren Fellowship. Dr. Salera’s primary research interest is in understanding the state-building effects of non-governmental work in developing regions, with a regional specialization in East Africa. Dr. Salera enjoys teaching courses on research methods, the politics of developing areas, African politics, international relations, and comparative politics.
