ESL Program Overview
Students take a placement exam which includes:
- In-house TOEFL
- Written Exam
- Oral Exam
Based on those scores, students are placed into Full program or Bridge Program ESL
Full program – two full-semester levels
- ESLG 2000.01 – Intermediate
Students take 18 hours of ESL instruction, using American culture studies as the content base. - ESLG 4000.01 – Upper Intermediate
In addition to the 5 ESL classes, students register for 1 credit of an undergraduate content class: ISTL 1000 - Introduction to International Studies

Bridge Level (advanced level) – two full-semester classes
These classes are 3 credit hours, and are taken at the same time as the student’s major coursework. They are not taken in the same semester
