Britt-Marie Schiller teaches philosophy and psychoanalysis, epistemology, feminist theories, and history of philosophy. She is also a practicing psychoanalyst at the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute. Her research is focused in the intersection of philosophy, psychoanalysis, and gender--currently on articulating alternative conceptions of masculinity.

Don's main interest is American Pragmatism, especially the philosophy of John Dewey. He is also interested in Phenomenology and Existentialism. Don's work focuses on the ways in which concrete life—or what Dewey calls "primary experience"—is the site of meaning and value. He teaches courses in American Philosophy, Continental Philosophy, Political Theory, and Aesthetics.

Kate Parsons

Kate Parsons is Associate Professor in Philosophy, Director of the Center for Ethics, and Chair of Interdisciplinary Studies at Webster. Her interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning connects her with several programs--Human Rights, the Center for Ethics, Women's Studies, and Environmental Studies. Her research interests currently include ethics of the family, feminist philosophies of the body, and theories of identity related to gender, sexuality, race, and class. She is also interested in philosophies of the body that articulate and illuminate her experiences as a dancer.

Bruce Umbaugh writes, thinks, and teaches about computing and other technologies. He maintains the X-Ray Net mailing list and the weblog, A blog doesn't need a clever name, and administers the Arts & Sciences Web conferencing system. He also teaches critical thinking, epistemology, history of philosophy, and philosophy of science. Bruce is convinced that there are considerable educational and community-building possibilities for networked virtual environments, and regularly teaches philosophy classes online. His research focuses on virtual community and ethics for cyberspace. His book is On Berkeley, in the Wadsworth Philosophers Series. Bruce came to Webster in 1994.
