What is Walker EDGE?
The Walker EDGE is a student services and employer relations office providing comprehensive professional development resources, programs and guidance to students within the Walker School of Business and Technology. The opportunities offered by Walker EDGE are designed to enable students to develop their EDGE and set them up for success in achieving their career goals.
Why should I complete an internship?
It is essential for students to have relevant, professional experience when applying for their first jobs. Completing an internship provides students a competitive edge in the job market as well as valuable professional contacts.
What activities are required of me to apply for a local internship?
In order to apply for a local internship developed by the Walker EDGE Office, after completing one or more of the following:
- MNGT 3100 Issues in Management: Walker EDGE Professional Development (3 credit hours) - undergraduate students
- MNGT 5500: Professional Seminar: Walker EDGE Professional Development (1 credit hour) - graduate students
- Walker EDGE 101: Online Resource in Canvas (0 credit hours) - coming soon
What are the benefits of participating in opportunities through the Walker EDGE?

What internships will be available to apply for?
The Walker EDGE Office partners with different companies in the St. Louis area to provide a wide range of internship opportunities for students in areas such as computer science, financial services, marketing, business administration, information technology, management and more. Global internships are also available in countries/areas such as The Netherlands, The United Kingdom, Austria, Germany and Mexico.
Walker EDGE staff work with students to identify internship opportunities that are a good fit based on skills and interests. Students are also encouraged to explore internship opportunities available from multiple sources.
Will I be required to find and apply for my own internship?
Yes. The Walker EDGE is not an internship placement service.
Participation will provide exclusive access to internship opportunities, however, students must complete the internship search and application process. This provides students with practical experience for a job search upon graduation.
Will I receive academic credit for my internship?
You may apply to receive academic credit for your internship but it must be approved by the faculty internship coordinator for your department well in advance. Yes, students at any Webster St. Louis campus are eligible to participate.
