Application Process
Complete application form, including:

  • Past leadership experience
  • Anticipated leadership involvement in the future 
  • Prior Employment
  • Experience with making presentations or public speaking
  • Plans for study abroad (or prior experience)
  • Essay responding to these three questions:
      • Why should you be chosen?
      • How you will use the knowledge, skills, and connections gained from the Summit to improve student life at your home campus?
      • What will the experience enable you to do?
  • A recommendation from one Webster faculty or professional staff member, with comments on:
      • Presentation/public speaking skills
      • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
      • Level of professionalism
      • Potential to contribute positively to student life at your home campus
  • A recommendation from one other Webster student, such as a peer student leader that the applicant has worked with in an organization where he/she held a position of leadership, or a peer who has witnessed firsthand the applicant's leadership skills.

    The selection process will include:
  • a review of the applications and recommendations
  • an interview held on your home campus

Required Qualifications
• Enrolled at one of the following Webster campuses that have committed to sending students to the Summit:

  • Webster main campus in Webster Groves
  • Webster Thailand
  • Webster Leiden
  • Webster Geneva
  • Webster Ghana
  • Webster Vienna

• Status as sophomore, junior, or graduate students in their first year. Exceptional freshmen may be considered on a case by case basis.

• Must plan to be enrolled at your home campus from August 2017-May 2018.
• Good academic standing and good judicial standing.
• Active involvement on campus
• Potential to contribute to student life after the summit
• Presentation, or public speaking, skills
• Must agree to actively participate in the 8-week online, non-credit class


11/3/16       Global message goes out seeking applicants
11/8-22/16   Hold information sessions during group meetings at each campus
1/20/17       Application deadline
1/25-31/17   Interviews held at each campus
2/6/17         Recommendations from each campus sent to central coordinating committee
2/9/17         List of participants (and alternates) announced to student life staff at each campus
2/10/17       Applicants informed
2/17/17       Selected applicants confirm participation
2/20/17       List of participants announced globally
2/24/17       Travel arrangements from their home campus, made by each campus for their participants
