Money for Textbooks
Webster University students enrolled at one of the St. Louis metro area campuses,
or in the online program, who are anticipating financial aid in excess of their tuition
and fees may be eligible for the Money for Textbooks program. See separate notes below about the online courses.
This program allows students to receive an advance on their financial aid, which can be used to purchase their textbooks and supplies in a timely fashion. Maximum amount is $600.00 per semester. Complete the online application form to apply. Application for the program cannot be done in person or over the phone.
Upcoming Days of Operation for Money for Textbook Program:
Applications will be accepted approximately two weeks prior to the start of classes until the Thursday of the first week of classes.
Graduate students (except MAT):
Fall 2: October 5 - 22, 2015
(last day to get books is October 23, 2015 by 5 p.m.)
Undergraduate students and MAT students:
Fall 2: October 12 - 29, 2015
(last day to get books is October 30, 2015 by 5 p.m.)
Term Classes Students enrolled exclusively in term classes (8 or 9 weeks only and not semester-long classes), will usually get only one financial aid disbursement and refund for the entire semester. Therefore, you will likely have received your refund in full before the start of the 2nd term. If you received a refund you are expected to use those funds to purchase your books for the second term of the semester, as you will not qualify for the Money For Textbooks Program if your entire Financial Aid award has already been disbursed.
Once students have applied and eligibility has been determined by the processing office (maximum of $600 per semester), students will receive email notification by the end of the next business day.
Materials for courses at St. Louis campuses may be purchased at the bookstore on the main campus.
Students using the Money for Textbooks program for online courses MUST purchase materials through MBS Direct (http://bookstore.mbsdirect.net/webster.htm). During the checkout process there is the payment option for Money for Textbooks. You will then be prompted to enter your student ID number and a Voucher ID (which will be sent to you) to process the order.
The Business Office will place the charges for books and supplies on the student's account. A $5.00 processing fee will also apply.
All applications must be submitted by Thursday of your first week of classes for each term and textbooks and supplies must be obtained through this program prior to 5 p.m. on the Friday of your first week of classes for each term. No textbooks may be obtained through this program after these cutoff dates. There will be no exceptions. Due to winter break, this program will not be available when campus is closed (usually December 24 through January 2).
No cash refunds will be given for any textbooks or other merchandise purchased through
this program; a credit will be issued instead. Credits are sent to the Business Office
for posting on the student's account.
Students at the Webster Groves campus, the Old Post Office campus, the Winghaven campus, and the Westport campus can order books through Follett at: http://www.webster.bkstr.com
