Graduate Assistant, Career Services
Career Services is seeking a Graduate Assistant to support students with career development needs and assist students with job search activities.
Responsibilities: The Graduate Assistant will assist students with setting career and educational goals and in developing marketable skills. Other important responsibilities include:
o Assist students in developing job search strategies and in securing meaningful employment.
o Assist students in understanding and accessing information about applying to graduate school.
o Work with Director and Assistant Directors to create marketing strategies to target undergraduates.
o Collaborate with other offices on campus to create programming for undergraduates.
o Assist with promoting events and programs; facilitate programs.

Qualifications: Knowledge of career development and job search strategies. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of labor market information. Experience in planning programs and facilitating groups. Ability to maintain client confidentiality according to ethical guidelines. Candidates should be computer literate, proficient in a variety of computer applications including word processing, database management, spreadsheets, e-mail, and Internet resources. Ability to work flexible hours, i.e. nights and weekends, if required. Applicants must be accepted into a Graduate Program at Webster University. Prefer applicants enrolled in a program in Counseling.

Position Available: August 1, 2008 2008-2009

Compensation: The stipend amount for the 2008-2009 academic year (August 2008 through May 2009) is $8,000. Position also includes a total of 18 hours of graduate tuition remission applied toward the full-time coursework load taken in 2008-2009 academic year. The position will average 20 hours a week.

Graduate Assistant, Multicultural and International Student Affairs
Description: Webster University is seeking a graduate assistant in the Multicultural Center and International Student Affairs Department (MCISA). This individual assists international students through outreach, counseling, and programming. The Graduate Assistant is responsible for developing, directing, and implementing programs and activities, and supporting the retention-related needs of international and underrepresented students. The position reports to both the Director of International Student Affairs and the Assistant Director of the MCISA. This position has an expected time commitment of 20 hours/week, including office hours, meetings, and program attendance.

Responsibilities Include:
• Advises and assists enrolled international students and American minority students on personal and cultural adjustment matters, from their arrival through their graduation.
• Counsels and advises international and American minority students on a wide range of issues including; university polices and procedures; career, educational, and personal matters; cultural adjustment; and academic advising. Makes referral to other university departments or outside resources, as appropriate. Provides workshops and seminars for international students on issues of importance, such as employment and cultural adjustment. • Assists in coordinating cultural, recreational, educational, and social programs for the general student populations. Programming is intended to promote understanding of the cultures represented by the multicultural and international population at Webster University campuses and to promote an appreciation of diversity.
• Works with MCISA staff to plan, coordinate, and implement a thorough orientation program for new international students (in conjunction with larger University orientation programs) designed to facilitate their personal and academic success.
• Provides a supportive welcome for all new international students and minority students, with services such as airport pick-up and trips to local resources, agencies and cultural institutions.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree.
• Acceptance to a graduate program (ongoing enrollment is condition of employment).
• Experience in planning cultural programming: knowledge of program production, promotion, budgeting; creativity for initiating new programs; ability to work weekends and nights as the job requires.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to relate and work well with students.
• demonstrated familiarity with and sensitivity to cultural diversity concerns Compensation: Stipend of $8,000.00 for a nine-month appointment. Additional summer work at an hourly rate is possible. Part-time graduate student tuition benefit, not to exceed 18 credit hours/academic year. Application deadline is Monday, April 25, 2008. Start date is first week of August

School of Business and Technology, Graduate Assistant

Position Description:
• Provide administrative support for the Dean and Dean’s Office support staff
• Conduct short and long-term industry research and data collection projects; generate reports, create and update databases
• Support and coordinate special projects related to assessment and consistency initiative
• SBT Webster maintenance

Requirements:
• Current Graduate student at Webster University
• Written and oral communication skills
• Ability to multi task and operate in a high pressure environment with defined deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access (Photoshop, HTML, PHP & My SQL experience a plus)
• Work 30 hours per work
• Attention to details is a must
