    CfPD 2011 Professional Roundtable Series

    The Center for Professional Development’s roundtables are designed to help you grow within your career, and give the opportunity to network with professionals by discussing topics and trends for today. Each roundtable series is hosted over lunch at the Old Post Office campus of Webster University with seating limited to 30-40 attendees to facilitate more focused discussion. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for lunch and networking with the session running from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

    The cost for these roundtables is $25 for each session ($125 for a full series of six sessions).  Prepaid attendees will receive a free lunch and validated parking in the 9th Street Garage.  Register and Pay onlineor call 314-246-3135 with questions.


    HR Leadership Series              Small Business Series


    March 23, 2011 – HR and National Health Care:  An Update for You and Your Company - The Healthcare Bill will have an impact throughout all areas of the business community, but do you know what it means for you?  This session will bring together information on the latest changes and impacts you need to be aware of. This Session has been rescheduled to April 13, 2011 Warm Up To Action; Cool Down With Process – led by Brian Rohlfing of MyBusinessIntegrated.com, this session will energize you about how to view the multiple processes you must manage. 
    April 20, 2010 – Summer Interns:  How Can We Use Them to Effectively Grow Business? – Many companies hire students as interns for summer work or special projects.  In this session you’ll have the chance to discuss the the costs of interns and ways your business can benefit from an internship program. April 6, 2011 – Your Talent Pool: Integration of Your Talents for Business – led by Chris Kiersch of MyBusinessIntegrated, this session will provide insight into how you can assess your strengths when it comes to business.  You will gain an understanding of how you can utilize your strengths for the betterment of your business.
     May 18, 2011 – Can They Do Better?: Employee Performance Improvement Programs.  Facilitated by Bill Binder, this session will feature a discussion of your employee performance issues and introduce you to an approach to improvement that is positive rather than punitive. May 4, 2011 – Pricing For Profit – led by Dale Furtwengler, this session will make you think about how you price your product or services.  With an eye toward maximizing profits, you will examine what differentiates you from your competition and how “value-pricing” can help you succeed in the long run.
    August 17, 2011 – Diversity Compliance: A Critical Update on Current Requirements and How to Keep Up.  Led by Lori Jackson, this session will open your eyes to the current state of government regulations and requirements related to diversity in employment.  A must for all HR professionals. August 3, 2011 – Social Networking:  Utilizing SN for Successful Marketing Results – facilitated by Chris Kiersch, this panel discussion will give you insight into how best to utilize social networking for business success.  The panel of SN marketing and develop experts will answer your questions and provide new ideas to help your business.
    September 21, 2011 – Strategic HR:  Performing an Integral Strategic Service for your Company – Facilitated by Tom Ahr, BJC?, this discussion will help you see how important HR can be to the overall strategy of an organization, how HR input in strategic decision making is critical to long-term success, and how you can let your manager know you are ready to take on a more strategic role.. September 7, 2011 – The Art of The Game:  Using Online Games and Activities to Drive Traffic to Your Site – facilitated by Mark Green of SecondStreetMedia.com, this showcases a unique approach to attracting dedicated prospects to your website/business on an ongoing, regular basis.
    October 19, 2011 – Performance Reviews:  How to Redefine Your Company’s Process for Better Effect. – Facilitated by Val Kimbrough, Director of HR for LCMS?, this session will open up a dialogue on how performance reviews can become more effective for your company and how to approach revamping a system that has become cumbersome and counterproductive. October 5, 2011 – Maxecution: Interactive Courseware for Effective Results.  How do you keep your staff trained and up to date on your limited budget?  ej4 has developed an affordable approach to dramatically impact your business.  Dan Cooper will help you explore this opportunity for your business.

                         
                    Westport Roundtable Series

    We are expanding our Roundtable offerings to our Westport Campus in order to serve a broader business community. We will begin by offering two of our favorite sessions from last year in 2011. Hosted by the Center for Professional Development and delivered at our Westport Campus located in the Graybar Building (11885 Lackland Road, Suite 600, Maryland Heights, MO 63146), this session features specially selected experts for roundtable discussions on topic areas listed below. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for lunch and networking with the session running from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.. The cost for these roundtables is $25 for each session and lunch will be provided.     May 25, 2011-Management 101: What I Wish I Knew When I Was 25- led by Bill Binder of BAT Leadership Training, you will gain an understanding of the definition of management, how to Assume the Mantle of the Manager, and hear lessons from a veteran who has been there before. October 12, 2011- Leadership 101: Will They Follow Me? Led by Dr. Beth Stroble, President of Webster University, this session will help you define leadership in your organization, give you perspective on different leadership roles (e.g. business vs. political, etc.) and let you examine the question, "What do my employees expect in a leader?"
