What/Who: The premiere of the winning compositions from the Community Music School of Webster University's 2008 Young Composers Competition will feature six original compositions from students across the nation. The works will be performed by professional musicians.
The evening's concert, which will be recorded for the winners, will include a performance of Dinos Constantinides' work "Suite for a Young Man." Dr. Constantinides, Boyd Professor at Louisiana State University and Music Director of Louisiana Sinfonietta has reviewed the winning works and will meet individually with the students to provide feedback on their compositions.
The Young Composers Competition recognizes and supports the work of outstanding young composers who have not yet completed their formal education. In its 5th year, the Competition received 32 entries from students from seven states.
When: Friday, May 9, 2008 from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.
