All major scales up to 2 sharps and 2 flats (no minor scales), 1 octave An unaccompanied solo of the student’s choice that best demonstrates his/her ability Excerpts assigned by the Community Music School (mailed on August 21, 2009) Sight reading in rhythms of half, quarter, and eighth notes may be requested |

This beginning level ensemble for strings emphasizes reading skills. Members must have a thorough and accurate knowledge of first position, a familiarity with letter names of notes, and show good left and right hand playing positions.
Suzuki Book equivalents are Violin Books 2 and 3 and Cello Book 2. Seating is on a rotating basis.
