2007-2008 Concert Program (PDF)

The Community Music School of Webster University’s Preparatory Program is designed to augment the individual music study of exceptionally talented string, woodwind, brass, and piano students who anticipate pursuing a career in music.

Utilizing the vast artistic resources of Webster University, the Community Music School of Webster University, the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, and other area music professionals, the Preparatory Program offers high caliber instruction, performance opportunities, and artistic mentoring in one comprehensive curriculum.

The curriculum is centered on chamber music and also includes theory, ear training, music history and literature, performance classes, and special events such as recitals, master classes and guest lectures.

PREP will host a juried regional junior level chamber music workshop, with participants invited from programs in the Midwest that enter students in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.

Students are expected to participate in solo recitals, attend performances, complete some written assignments, and perform a service project.  Upon completion of the program, PREP graduates to date have had great success in acceptance with scholarship into highly competitive conservatories and universities.

Advanced students in grades 7-12 who are studying privately and are highly motivated and committed to furthering their music education are eligible to audition. The Community Music School Preparatory Program seeks to offer the resources and opportunities necessary to support tomorrow’s professional musicians.
