String Camp Packages

String Camp Package A: Enroll in String Orchestra Camp and Chamber Music Encounter and pay a combined tuition of only $200.

String Camp Package B: Enroll in Baroque String Academy and String Orchestra Camp and pay a combined tuition of only $260.

String Camp Package C: Enroll in String Orchestra Camp, Chamber Music Encounter, and Baroque String Academy and pay a combined tuition of only $350.

String Orchestra Camp

Keep your bow red hot this summer! Participate in ensembles, sectionals, master class, and special event activities! Three orchestra levels (pending enrollment) under the direction of Nancy Daby, Mary Lou Gotman, and retired Saint Louis Symphony musician Bill Martin will musically challenge every student. Special musical guest appearances round out your orchestral experience.

Students must be able to read music. Placement auditions will be held, as needed.

Chamber Music Encounter

Here’s your chance for an opportunity to play in a chamber music ensemble! Learn the exacting skills required when placed one to a part. Work with CMS faculty who are well experienced in chamber group settings. The camp emphasizes the process of playing chamber music, but if performance ready, chamber groups will perform on the final String Orchestra Camp concert.

Baroque String Academy

The Baroque Period comes to life in your own hands! Acquire the special techniques needed to perform baroque music in a historically informed style. Under the artistic direction of Early Music Saint Louis and the aegis of the 2008 Saint Louis Baroque Festival, this workshop immerses high school aged string players in the Baroque Period through master classes, coached ensembles, hands-on experience with authentic period instruments, and participation in the Baroque Violin Band for all stringed instruments.

Chamber Music Intensive for Adult Amateurs

This intensive is designed to improve the skills of the serious adult amateur string player. Attendees are formed into ensembles and receive coaching in classical chamber music, as well as daily individualized instruction to strengthen their technical ability and augment their musical skills. Offered under the artistic direction of Early Music Saint Louis and the aegis of the 2008 Saint Louis Baroque Festival.
