Steps to 2018 Graduation

We are excited because the date for the Columbia Metropolitan Campus’ annual commencement ceremony has been set for:

Friday, June 1, 2018 at 6 pm

The ceremony will be held at the:

Koger Center for the Arts

Students completing all degree requirements by the Spring 2, 2018 term are encouraged to participate in the ceremony!

Students who will complete their degree, Summer 2018 are also extended the opportunity to participate in the graduation ceremony, with the permission of the Campus Director. These students will need to complete and submit a Request for Early Commencement to the Campus Director no later than May 2, 2018. It should be noted that your name will not be printed in the program, but will be read from the stage.

If you wish to participate in the ceremony, please review all of the information below thoroughly and follow the steps completely:

1. Submit a Petition to Graduate

Students completing their degree in Spring should have completed an online Petition to Graduate no later than February 16, 2018. If you have not submitted your petition or will be completing your requirements this Summer 2018, please do so immediately. The main campus will not confer your degree or release your diploma until this form has been completed. If you have not completed your petition to graduate, you must do so as soon as possible.

Petition to Graduate Forms

  1. Please note: A student who completes a graduate degree, (including all required, elective, and transfer courses) while maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.950, receives Graduate Academic Honors, if the degree has already been conferred. For Undergraduate Academic Honors, the student must meet the following criteria: 1) A minimum of 45 graded credit hours at Webster University 2) A minimum of 90 graded credit hours accumulated in the entire college career and 3) A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.7, if the degree has been conferred. Accelerated sequential degrees are excluded from this designation. If you believe you qualify for honors, please contact the campus so they may verify.

2. Clear Business Office Accounts

Students who have completed all of their academic requirements to graduate must clear their Student Business Office account balance prior to diploma and transcript release. Credit card payments are subject to a 2.75% convenience fee. Check payments have a holding period of 10 days before release of transcripts. 3. Complete RSVP Form

Complete and submit the RSVP Form for the 2018 Commencement Ceremony, which will be held at The Koger Center for the Arts on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 6:00pm no later than May 4, 2018!

4. Purchase Your Cap and Gown

To order your cap and gown:

Online ordering is now open. Please complete your order by Friday, April 27, 2018 to ensure your items are delivered before the commencement date. Shipping time is usually around 5 weeks. Do not leave this for the last minute!

Please Note: There will not be a representative on campus, ordering will be handled exclusively online through the Jostens website.



  • Click on 'Graduation Caps & Gowns' on the right.
  • Click on 'Student Navy Blue Regalia' under Select your Collection.
  • Select the appropriate Cap, Gown, and Tassel. (The picture shows a black cap & gown, but the actual product will be navy blue)
  • Click customize, and enter height/weight, and click next.
  • From the “Major/Curriculum” drop box, select the following:
    • If you are earning your Bachelor’s Degree: Select “Arts”
    • If you are earning your Master’s Degree: Select “Arts” (This includes Counseling, HR Development, HR Management, and Management and Leadership)
    • If you are earning your Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA): Select “Business Administration”
    • If you are earning your Master’s Degree in Health Administration: Select “Health Administration”
  • Verify your info, and edit if necessary.
  • Click add to cart, enter name, and click on checkout. Finish final steps to complete order.
  • You will receive an immediate email confirmation of your order with a confirmation number. Please keep this number for future reference. Once you receive your confirmation number you know Jostens has the order!

If you have any questions regarding your order or you miss the online ordering deadline, you may call Jostens at 1-800-854-7464 and place your order by phone. Please note, this option will also incur an additional fee of $20.00. Below is the listing of hood colors so you may verify you received the correct hood when your order arrives:

  • Bachelor of Arts: White
  • Master of Arts: White
  • Master of Business Administration: Drab (Goldish Brown)
  • Master of Health Administration: Salmon

5. Pick Up Your Tickets
Tickets for the ceremony will be available for pick up from the campus on Monday, May 7, 2018 through Friday, May 25, 2018 during regular business hours. Each graduate will receive a total of ten (10) tickets for guests. Graduates should inform their guests that tickets will be required for entry and that seating is limited. No one will be permitted access to enter the ceremony without a ticket.

6. Send Announcements/Give Out Tickets
Announcements and rings are available through Jostens (enter the link to our information). Don’t forget to send out your commencement announcements and provide your guest with their tickets.

7. Ceremony Details

  • Graduates are expected to arrive by 4:30pm to rehearse and prepare for the ceremony. Rehearsal will start promptly at 5 pm.
  • When you arrive you will be directed to a location which has been designated for robing, disrobing and rehearsal.
  • The procession will begin promptly at 6 pm. Late arrivals will not be permitted to participate.
  • Guests will be permitted to enter at 5 pm.
  • General parking is available in the USC parking lots and in the Discovery parking garage behind the venue on the corner of Park and College streets. Applicable parking fees will apply. Handicapped parking is limited and available directly in front of the Kroger Center.
  • Diplomas will not be presented to graduates at the time of the ceremony. Graduates will receive their diplomas by mail approximately six to eight weeks after the degrees are conferred by the main campus in St. Louis.
