Accessibility Information for Graduates and Guests


The Commencement Ceremony will be held at The Muny in Forest Park on Saturday, May 11, 2019.

The Muny sits on a steep grade. For anyone who may have difficulty walking long distances or find the steep grade a challenge, we recommend you rent a wheelchair and bring it with you. The Muny does not rent wheelchairs. However, the Muny has ample spaces for wheelchair parking in the theatre, which will allow your guest to remain in the wheelchair during the ceremony. Disability Accommodation Requests for Graduating Students With Disabilities

If you are a graduating student with a physical disability and anticipate needing accommodations, please indicate this on the RSVP card and email it to the Registrar's Office. If you have questions regarding disability accommodations needed for the commencement ceremonies, call 314-246-7700.

Accessible Parking

Parking for individuals with disabilities will be available on the lower East Muny lot and the upper Muny lot. Cars must have the proper disabled parking permit tag to park in these areas. [ Map to East Muny Parking ]

Graduates/Guests With Difficulty Walking

Graduates or guests anticipating difficulty walking the distance from the parking lots or up and down the sloped walkways at the Muny should bring a wheelchair. The Muny does not rent wheelchairs.

Seating for Guests Using Wheelchairs

Special seating for guests using wheelchairs is available in various areas of the Muny and the satellite stages. Please note: seating is available for a guest in a wheelchair and one additional guest.

Service Animals

Service animals are permitted on the premises. Dogs or other pets whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA).

American Sign Language Interpreters (ASL Interpreters)

American Sign Language Interpreters will be interpreting the main commencement ceremony and all individual school and college ceremonies. 

Main Commencement Ceremony – ASL Interpreters

American Sign Language Interpreters will be stationed on both sides of the main stage. Seating for guests who are deaf or hard of hearing will be located in the Left Box Seat Section. 

Individual School and College Ceremonies – ASL Interpreters

American Sign Language Interpreters will be stationed on the stage for each individual school and college ceremony.
