Steps to Graduation


1. Submit a Petition to Graduate

All students completing all degree requirements in May 2017 must fill out a Petition to Graduate.

Petitions are DUE MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2017.

Petition to Graduate Forms

Undergraduate Petitions:

St. Louis area students submit to the Academic Departments. Submit to the Academic Departments. Go to http://www.webster.edu/undergraduate/departments.html to find the department webpage for contact information. Extended campus students submit to your local campus.

Graduate School Petitions:

  • Petitions will be routed to the correct staff member once form is completed and submitted. NOTE: An e-mail confirming receipt of the petition will be sent upon submission.

2. Clear Business Office Accounts

Students who have completed all of their academic requirements to graduate must clear their Student Business Office account balance prior to diploma and transcript release. Credit card payments are subject to a 2.75% convenience fee. Check payments have a holding period of ten days before release of transcripts. 3. Complete RSVP Cards

Complete RSVP CARD for the Commencement Ceremony at the Muny on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Return RSVP CARD via e-mail BY APRIL 3, 2017.

For Extended Campus Graduates
Notify your campus director by February 20, 2017 to submit your name on the Commencement Participation Form if you intend to participate in the St. Louis Commencement ceremony.

Fully Online Graduates
Notify the Online Learning Center at studyonline@webster.edu or (866) 622-0888 if you plan to participate in the St. Louis ceremony.

Graduates/Guests With Disabilities
Indicate your needs on the RSVP card. If you have questions regarding special accommodations (due to a disability) needed for the commencement ceremonies, contact Cindy Yamnitz at 314-246-4245.

*It is recommended that individuals requiring wheelchair assistance bring their own wheelchair. Please note the Muny property is accessible but, individuals must be able to negotiate an incline for seating for the main Muny stage.

4. Purchase Your Cap and Gown

If you are located in the St. Louis area and participating in the St. Louis Commencement:

St. Louis area graduates may purchase their caps and gowns at the University Bookstore, 554 Garden Avenue, Webster Groves, Missouri during the Grad Salute Days. Join in the celebration. Enter to win prizes and don't miss special graduation pricing on Jostens class rings. Take care of all your graduation needs on these days.

Ring Sale/Announcement Days on Monday, March 13 and Tuesday March 14, 2017 from 10 am–5 pm.

Grad Salute Days
Wednesday, March 22: 10 am–5 pm
Thursday, March 23: 10 am–5 pm
Friday, March 24: 10 am–3 pm

If you cannot attend the Grad Salute, caps and gowns will be available during regular business hours at the University Bookstore until May 12, however sizes and availability may be limited.

If you are located outside of the St. Louis area and participating in the St. Louis Commencement or you are walking in graduation ceremonies at an extended campus go to:

http://college.jostens.com/jostens/?affiliateId=1059767 and follow the instructions on the website to order a cap & gown and announcements for the ceremony in which you are participating.

5. Refer to This Website

http://www.webster.edu/commencement for information on photos, directions, parking, hotels, and lots more.

6. Distribute Copies of the Map of Your Commencement Ceremony

Distribute copies of the MAP OF YOUR COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY to friends and family with your Commencement announcements. The map shows your check-in area, and the location of your individual School/College ceremony. These maps contain all the information you and your guests will need to navigate your way through Commencement day.

7. Celebrate!

Celebrate the completion of your Webster University degree (and the previous 6 steps) at the 98th Annual Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 13, 2017.
