Emeritus Special Lecturer and Audio Program Consultant
It is with great sorrow the School of Communications faculty and students note Bill Porter's passing July 7, 2011. Bill added so much to our lives. He is greatly missed by all who knew him.
Legendary recording engineer Bill Porter was the Emeritus Special Lecturer, School of Communications. He had been the recording engineer for artists such as Elvis Presley, the Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison and many more. Bill had approximately 600 charted records and was the first recording engineer inducted into the Audio Hall of Fame. His accomplishments and technical innovations are so many and varied that it would take pages to even briefly list them. Bill retired from teaching at Webster University at the end of Spring Semester, 2005.
Mary Porter, Bill's wife, died in August, 2005.
