Elizabeth has cultivated a love of story from many different aspects, from music to theatre to filmmaking. She has written and directed several 48-Hour Film Projects, as well as an independent short film. She has taught cinema basics at the Jewish Community Center's Camp of the Arts. She has  won Cinema St. Louis' 2009 Beth Ashy doing what she loves to doCinemaSpoke Screenwriting Competition and the International Grand Prize of the 2011 Champion Screenwriting Competition for her screenplays.

Ashby has also had the opportunity to explore the realm of another visual medium–she has over five years experience working professionally designing theatrical costumes. She has designed for St. Louis Shakespeare, The Little Theatre on the Square, Morning Star Productions, West End Players Guild, Over Due Theatre, Act II Theatre, and Riverside Shakespeare. She currently works part-time as a costume designer at St. Louis Community College - Meramec.

She spends most of her time as a freelance seamstress, singer, and professional pirate with the musical stunt show Swords and Roses. She brings this spirit of adventure and enthusiasm into her work at the Webster Film Series.
