About

Scott balances his time between the classroom; working with his speech and debate students and traveling with them on weekends; and finding quality time with his family.

Scott recently celebrated his 20th year of teaching and coaching debate, and looks forward to many more years of the same. He is a teacher because it affords him the opportunity to also be a student. He is continually amazed at how much he learns from his classroom and team students.

Scott has held several national and regional forensic and debate leadership positions. He has won national and regional service and teaching awards, including Webster's top teaching award, the William T. Kemper Excellence in Teaching Award.

When not teaching, Scott enjoys time with his wife and forensic/teaching colleague, as well as his four children. He writes and publishes research dealing with forensic and debate pedagogy, forensic and debate practices, and the rhetoric of baseball.

His passion, just behind teaching and family, is baseball and the Chicago Cubs.
