Turner Presents at Conference in China

ST. LOUIS (JULY 19, 2016) – School of Communications associate dean Paaige K. Turner participated in and presented at the Communication, Media, and Governance in the Age of Globalization conference last month in Beijing, China. The National Communication Association (NCA) and the Communication University of China (CUC) co-sponsored the international conference.

Paaige Turner with 2 attendees at conference in ChinaTurner chaired the panel “Strategic Communication in the Global Age: Social Media and Public Relations.” She chaired and presented the workshop, “Emerging Communication Pedagogies in the Age of Globalization.”

While at the conference, she also met with members of the pedagogy sub-committee, which she co-chairs for the NCA Task Force on International Communication.

Attendees of the conference spoke different languages including English, Mandarin, and Chinese. To facilitate communication, attendees could wear headphones, and students from CUC were on hand to translate.

After the conference, Turner visited the Beijing Language and Culture University. She later visited the Webster University campus in Shanghai and Harbin University with which Webster has a joint language program. All three universities are located in China.
