School Closing Policy

Community Music School

The Community Music School and all of its programs will be closed when Webster University closes.  If the school closes for inclement weather or any other unforeseeable circumstances for safety considerations, classes, lessons, and rehearsals will not be made up and no reimbursement will be made.  Every effort will be made to avoid canceling classes due to bad weather.

School closing announcements will be made on KSDK Channel 5 TV, KMOX 1120 AM radio, STLTODAY, or by calling (314) 968-5939. Parents may also sign up for Webster Alerts to receive automated campus closing alerts.  For directions on how to set up Webster Alerts please see instructions below.

In addition:

  • Holy Communion in University City closes when the CMS and Webster University close (see above), but this location also closes when the University City School District closes.

Webster Alerts

Webster Alerts Webster Alerts is a campus alert service that sends out email messages and/ or text messages containing emergency announcements and weather-related school closing information. This service is FREE to students, faculty and staff. To register for Webster Alerts:

  1. Log-on to Webster Connections.
  2. On the Connections homepage click on “Webster Alerts,” “Manage Your Accounts,”
  3. Agree to the terms and create an account.
  4. Once an account is created on the homepage add mobile phone numbers, and email addresses you would like alerts directed to.
  5. Click on the “Opt-in” tab and select the “Community Music School 535” and the “Webster University” alerts.

*Note* If Webster University’s main campus is closed due to inclement weather, all branches of the Community Music School also close.
