The Rader Quartet, a competition group of the CMS Preparatory Program that is jointly sponsored with Chamber Society of St. Louis, had a stunning end to their season by winning second place and the Haydn Prize at the 14th St. Paul String Quartet Competition on April 13th at Hamline University in Minnesota. Members Theo Bockhorst, violin, Ethan Mayer, violin, Molly Prow, viola, and Alex Cho, cello received cash prizes, silver medals, and premium editions of Mozart string quartets. The Rader Quartet members are all 17 and just completed their junior year of high school.

At the recent Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in South Bend, IN, they advanced to the semi-final round, placing them as one of the top 12 pre-college chamber ensembles in the nation. Competitors traveled from as far as China, and applicants from 22 nations were represented in the first round. The Rader Quartet performed as Peer Ambassadors at a South Bend elementary school to great acclaim. This is the Preparatory Program's 16th year advancing students to the live competition rounds, representing the entire spectrum of opportunities of the CMS. The PREP celebrates its 20th anniversary in the 2019-20 season.
