Chamber Music Encounter


Chamber Music Encounter Camp StudentsProfessional chamber musicians and CMS faculty well experienced in chamber group settings will coach trios, quartets, and quintets in this wonderful music form where compositions are performed by and written for one player for each part. Guest performers and speakers will share their experience in successful chamber music performance and ensemble development. 


August 3 - 7, 2020
1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Application Deadline:  March 4, 2020
Auditions Dates:  Saturday, April 4 (2-5 p.m.) and Sunday, April 5 (12-5 p.m.)

Grades:  Violin, viola, cello, and piano students through high school (please see requirements)
Tuition:  $370 (includes t-shirt)
Requirements:  String players need a developed vibrato. Students must be at or beyond the following representative minimum skill levels:

  • Violin: Suzuki Book 4/Vivaldi a minor Concerto
  • Viola:  Suzuki Book 4/Seitz #2, 3rd movement 
  • Cello: Suzuki Book 4/Breval Sonata in C Major 
  • Piano: Clementi Sonatina or Kuhlau Sonatas

Acceptance in the Chamber Music Encounter will be based on audition, instrumentation needs for chamber ensembles (trios, quartets, quintets), and readiness for small ensemble playing.
Auditions Dates:  Saturday, April 4, 2-5 p.m. and Sunday April 5, 12-5 p.m. Space is limited.
