Young People's Concert Orchestra

YPCO The Young People's Concert Orchestra (YPCO) is the first full orchestra in the Community Music School system. For many students, it is their first experience with strings, woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments together in a group. Emphasis is placed on the development of ensemble skills, accurate intonation, rhythm, and sight-reading. Orchestral literature in arranged and original form is introduced. Past repertoire includes: Die Fledermaus Overture-Strauss (ed. Kennedy), Finale to Symphony No. 5-Shostakovich (arr. Bulla), and An American in Paris Suite-Gershwin (arr. Whitney).
