The Confucius Institute at Webster University offers a Chinese language and culture class for kids age 7-12. The kids will learn some useful daily spoken Chinese language through doing fun activities, watching videos and making traditional Chinese hand crafts. New classes begin every semester and cost $50 (with discounts for additional children from the same family).

After school club in Webster Groves School District

The CIWU also offers Chinese clubs at Webster Groves School District for 3rd-5th grade elementary school students and at the 6th grade center. Registration for the 2019-20 school year (Sept. 9-Dec. 12, Jan. 13-April 13) is now closed. New registration forms will be linked below at the start of the next school year. Only students currently enrolled in 3rd-6th grade in one of the schools listed below may participate.

Offered in the past:

Beginning Chinese for Working Professionals

This is an introductory Chinese language class aimed at getting adults prepared to visit China. Ten topics will be introduced, which include self-introduction, asking for directions, taking transportation, visiting a Chinese family, dining in a restaurant with your business partners, etc.

Additionally, each class will feature a guest speaker who can offer further insight into the Chinese business world.


Tai Chi Fan Kids Classes

Kids aged 5-12 are invited to attend this Saturday class, where they will learn traditional tai chi moves, including tai chi moves with a Chinese fan. They will also do other fun activities. The suggested contribution for each class is $4 each or $20 for all 6 classes. Stay tuned for the dates of the next session.
