Rusty Wandall has been the Head of Sound Design and the Resident Sound Designer for the St Louis Repertory Theatre since 2008. He has had the pleasure of designing over 60 productions for the Repertory Theatre St Louis. He has worked extensively with theaters across the St Louis Region including Shakespeare Festival St Louis, Opera Theatre St Louis, Variety Theatre, Metro Theatre Company, Shooting Star Productions, Hot City Theatre, and Mustard Seed Theatre. Regionally he has also worked with the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Geva Theatre Center, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Westport Country Playhouse, Washington National Opera, Opera Parallele, Kitchen Theatre Company, New Orleans Opera, and the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival.

Rusty was awarded the St Louis Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Sound Design in a Play in 2016 for Shakespeare Festival St Louis production of Antony and Cleopatra, and in 2019 for the Repertory Theatre of St Louis production of The Humans. Rusty is the Vice Commissioner for Conference Operations for the United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT) sound commission, and a member of the Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association (TSDCA).
