Date: Saturday, May 16, 2019
Time: 10 a.m. to noon Graduates should arrive at 8 am.  Doors for guests open at 9:30 am.

Directions to the Bender Arena at American University can be found here. There is a parking ramp adjacent, however it fills up quickly - there is another garage across Mass Avenue (a bit of a walk) at Katzen Arts Center.

St. Louis Commencement Ceremony

Students who are graduating from the National Capital Region during the Summer 2019–Spring 2 2020 academic year are also invited to attend the 2020 St. Louis commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9, 2020.

If you wish to participate in the St. Louis ceremony, please indicate this on your response form and submit it by March 6. This way, your name will be included in the main campus's commencement program. For more information, please visit http://www.webster.edu/commencement/commencement.html

Visit the Webster University commencement website for more information about the St. Louis ceremony or for any information on other extended site graduation dates. As a Webster University graduate, you are allowed to attend any site's commencement ceremony if you cannot participate in the National Capital Region ceremony. Extended campus location ceremony dates can be found on the Webster University commencement webpage.

Cap, Gown, and Hood Orders

Graduation regalia (cap, gown, and hood) can be ordered directly from Jostens via this website or by calling 1-800-854-7464. ALL STUDENTS MUST ORDER THEIR REGALIA NO LATER THAN APRIL 5, 2019. You will need to select your area of study from a dropdown box when you order your regalia. Options are listed below:

  • Arts (Business and Organizational Security Management, Healthcare Management, Human Resources Development, Human Resources Management, Information Technology Management, International Business, International Relations, Management and Leadership, Marketing, Nonprofit Leadership, Procurement and Acquisitions Management, Public Relations)
  • Business Administration (MBA)
  • Science (Cybersecurity, Finance, Forensic Accounting)

NOTE: It takes approximately five weeks for the regalia to ship; therefore, caps, gowns, and hoods must be ordered by April 5 to be received in time for graduation.

Petition to Graduate

Students who will complete all degree requirements in May 2020 must fill out a petition to graduate form online. Once you submit your petition, you will receive a confirmation within 48 hours to your Webster email address. The official deadline to submit your petition to graduate is March 15, 2020 for those who intend to participate in the May commencement ceremony; however students may still submit their petitions online. Students who will take their final course during the Summer 2019 term may still walk in the May 2020 commencement ceremony. If you wish to walk and still have one course to take during the Summer term, please complete the response form above and submit it to either your site or the graduation coordinator by April 5, 2020 to be included in the program. Also make sure to order a cap, gown, and hood.

Requesting an Official Transcript

Requests for an official transcript can be made through the main campus. Please visit http://www.webster.edu/academics/transcripts.html for more information.

Diploma

Students do not receive a diploma at the commencement ceremony. All diplomas are mailed out by the Registrar’s office after students are approved to graduate. The diplomas are mailed to the address posted in Connections 8–12 weeks after the term ends. Please make sure the address is current.
