The following guidelines will help you protect your computer system from viruses:

Make sure you have a reputable antivirus program installed and regularly updated on your computer. |

Do not open any files attached to an e-mail from an unknown, suspicious, or untrustworthy source. |
|
Do not open any file attached to an e-mail unless you know what it is, even if it appears to come from a friend or associate. |
|
Do not open any files attached to an e-mail if the subject line is questionable or unexpected. |
|
Do not download files or programs from Web sites except those official ones run by vendors. |
|
Back up your files on a regular basis. Store your backup copy in
a separate location from your work files, preferably on removable
media or a network drive. |
|
Make sure that Macro Virus Protection is enabled in all Microsoft applications. |
|
Disable the "Preview Pane" feature in your e-mail client. |
|
If you believe you may have a computer virus, call the Help Desk immediately (X5995). The Help Desk may request you send them a copy of the header of any suspicious e-mail. |
