Ed Spillane
Dr. Edward J. Spillane is professor emeritus in the School of Business and Technology at Webster University. His professional career has included many years of service as hospital executive, hospital and nursing home board member, as well as chairman of the board of trustees of St. Louis based hospital and nursing home facilities. Dr. Spillane is an expert in the areas of financial analysis, investments, and health care costs/administration.

Positively Aging: Choices and Changes in Senior Living Options

Althea West, M.A.
Ms. Althea West is a gerontologist, financial educator, and President of Advisors Resource Network, a consulting service for insurance and financial professionals as well as for individuals and their families. Ms. West is a licensed insurance broker in nine states and specializes in risk management for older adults. She is certified by the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services to provide educational programs and to assist with enrollments for the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan. Ms. West is a graduate of Webster University’s Graduate Program in Gerontology.

Martha Brown, J.D.
Ms. Martha C. Brown is a partner at Oelbaum & Brown in St. Louis. Ms. Brown is a Certified Elder Law Attorney and recipient of the Elder Law Attorney of the Year Award for 2002 from the Missouri Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Her areas of concentration are Elder Law, Medicaid, Estate Planning Law and Probate Administration, and Guardianship and Conservatorship matters. She is a Certified Elder Law Attorney as certified by the National Elder Law Foundation.

Lisa M. Beatty, M.S.W.
Ms. Lisa M. Beatty is the Special Project Coordinator for the Mid-East Area Agency (MEAAA) on Aging. She is responsible for Disease Prevention and Health Promotion programming at MEAAA’s 28 Senior Centers in Franklin, Jefferson, St. Charles, and St. Louis Counties.

The Gerontology Program at Webster University invites graduates, current students, and current and former faculty members in the program to join us for a reception following the 18th Annual Gerontology Workshop Series. This will be a chance to meet other graduates of the program, to reconnect with former faculty, and to hear about new developments in the program. Refreshments will be served.
