In conjunction with the release of her book “Massoud: An Intimate Portrait of the Legendary Afghan Leader,” author and Webster alumna Marcela Grad will visit the St. Louis campus for two talks, each free and open to the public.

While there have been many books in French and Japanese on the legendary Afghan leader, Grad’s largely oral history is the first Western book written in English. It is published by the Webster University Press.

Note: Check the Webster University Press web page for announcements
of other events during Grad's visit.

Come discuss with Grad and listen to her four-year journey meeting and listening to people who knew Ahmad Shah Massoud over his nearly 50 years of life.

“I hope that the book captures the essence of Massoud through those who knew him,” Grad says. “People who have read advance copies tell me, ‘I feel as if I have known him personally.’ That is really the intent.”

Look for more about Grad, her time as a student at Webster, and the process of writing “Massoud” in the next issue of Global Thinking.
