College Dedicates Year of International Human Rights 2009-10: The Right to Food and Water

The overwhelming success of the 2008-09 Year of International Human Rights prompted the College of Arts & Sciences to continue calling attention to the world’s pressing human rights problems.

We dedicate the new academic year to human rights issues associated with food and water. Activities for the Year of International Human Rights 2009-10: The Right to Food and Water will include:

  • freshman seminar activities related to Omnivore’s Dilemma, being read by freshmen across the Webster network
  • a food/water-themed film series in Moore Auditorium on Tuesdays in September
  • a Folk and Harvest Festival on the quad on Oct. 3
  • a talk by farmer and author Joel Salatin in Grant Gym on Oct. 5
  • special homecoming activities the weekend of Oct. 9-11.

Details about other speakers and a conference will be forthcoming.
