About Leiden
Leiden, the Netherlands, is located approximately 30 miles from Amsterdam by train. Leiden has the distinction of being the oldest university town in the Netherlands, which fosters an environment of shops, cafés, and cultural opportunities that serve the students who make up a large portion of the town's population. Leiden's many attractions and amenities are accessible by foot, but students often rent or purchase bicycles to make commuting through town quicker and more convenient. Next to walking, bicycling is the most popular form of transit.
