Past Faculty Members

Although the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences has retained a consistent group of faculty over the past two decades, there has been some change in the faces seen in the department.

Mary Harmon-Vukić joined the BSS department in Fall 2005. A cognitive psychologist, she taught Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Measurement and Statistics, Introduction to Research Methods, Cognitive Psychology, and other courses  in her specialty area. Dr. Harmon-Vukić worked to create the BSS research lab in Priest 103. She was also the advisor for the Behavioral and Social Science club. Dr. Harmon-Vukić relocated to Providence College in Fall 2008. We all wish her the best in her new position.

William HuddlestonBerry was chair of the BSS department for over 30 years. He was a sociologist by training but over the years became well versed in a variety of areas within the social sciences. Professor HuddlestonBerry was also the long-time Director of the M.A. in Counseling program - overseeing it's beginning and eventual expansion to sites across the U.S. and Europe. In summer 2005, Professor HuddlestonBerry was diagnosed with lung cancer. He fought a courageous battle with the disease over the subsequent year but in the end the battle was too much and he passed away on July 23, 2006. Professor HuddlestonBerry will be remembered as an exceptional teacher, mentor, scholar, colleague and leader. An endowed Webster University Scholarship was established to honor William HuddlestonBerry.
