Don’t miss the chance to experience global legal studies courses taught in the world’s most prominent hub of international law, business, and politics. Intensive classroom courses are held at Webster's Leiden campus. (See map. ) Students will visit the International Court of Justice in the Peace Palace, the Tribunal Concerning the Former Yugoslavia, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and other law-related governmental (e.g., Eurojust, the judicial arm of the U.N.) agencies.
Located just 10 minutes from The Hague and 30 minutes from Amsterdam by train, Leiden is one of Holland's best-kept secrets. The Webster campus sits in the historic city center on a picturesque canal, with most of the student housing a short walk or bike ride from campus. Nearby Leiden University, which has nearly 20,000 students and staff, gives this cozy college town of 115,000 inhabitants a youthful, international flair.
Who it is for
Non-traditional and traditional students will find that these one-week courses fit into the busiest schedule and provide an international opportunity not normally available to the adult learner. The courses will be especially attractive to students interested in legal, human rights, international relations, or international business issues.
Academic requirements the program fulfills
The four three-hour courses within this summer program may be taken as elective credit for students in majors outside of Legal Studies. The classes are suitable for graduate or undergraduate students, and no prerequisites are required. Courses can be used as electives in programs outside the Legal Studies major. Check with your academic advisor to see how these courses can work for you.
Note: All courses have an online component that must be completed before a student begins classroom study in the Netherlands. Study in the Netherlands is mandatory.
