What Students Say about the GLS Program

Jon Green
M.A. in Legal Analysis 2009

"As a non-traditional student, what enticed me to participate in the Globalized Legal Studies program was the possibility of doing a study-abroad course, in my interest area, in a short format. The week-long courses offer working professionals an intensive international education traditionally available only to students in semester-long formats. Personal instruction coupled with pre-completed on-line course work successfully prepares students for an enriching study-abroad experience, which includes unprecedented access to institutions of historic, contemporary, cultural, and global import."

"I highly recommend the Legal Studies program for anyone seeking a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from and experience the great leaders and institutions that have helped shape international law. Our lessons were taught en route to experiencing some of the places listed in 1,000 Places to See before you Die (European edition) such as the Oude and Nieuwe Kerk (Old and New Church ) in Delft. Amongst other things, we were given exclusive access to take a personal tour of the Peace Palace in The Hague and sat in on cases in the International Criminal Court as well as the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia . "Not only did I learn from Globalized Legal Studies classroom lectures, but the experience I got outside class was essential in shaping my understanding of other cultures. We witnessed the trial of Charles Taylor (former president of Liberia) at the International Criminal Court. We also went to the International Court of Justice and visited numerous museums around Amsterdam. While in Brussels, we had an amazing tour of the European Parliament. I would encourage anyone interested in a study abroad program to consider the Globalized Legal Studies program because it is well worth it."

"The Globalized Legal Studies Program was an adventure of a lifetime! The instructors had exceptional knowledge of the course work and planned amazing field trips. The tour of the International Peace Palace was the highlight of my study abroad experience."
