St. Louis Area Jobs with Justice (JwJ) is an action-oriented coalition of local unions, community, faith-based and student groups committed to working together on issues of workers' rights and economic justice.
We are seeking a committed, energetic activist to work as an intern focusing primarily on building the Student Labor Action Project (SLAP) of St. Louis Area Jobs with Justice. Responsibilities include:
• Organizing regular meetings and events
• Outreach to students and SLAP membership building (focusing on underrepresented student constituencies)
• Database and listserv management
• Supporting local student groups throughout St. Louis
• Work to build solidarity and coalitions among different types of student groups (i.e. students of color, queer students, and student labor activists)
• Work to build relationships between organized labor, community groups, and students
• Develop resources for student activists
• Fundraising
You will work closely with JwJ's Student/Youth Co-Chairs as well as JwJ staff.
Being an intern with JwJ is hard work. However, you can expect to learn from St. Louis' most skilled and inspiring activists, and build relationships with an incredible range of grassroots organizations.
