Universal Declaration of Human Rights cover

This small blue booklet containing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in its entirety will be a common sight in 2008-09 at Webster University locations worldwide. The College of Arts & Sciences printed 20,000 copies of the UDHR, sometimes referred to as the "international Magna Carta," and will distribute them to Webster students, faculty, and staff around the globe.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Sixty years ago, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was ratified by the United Nations General Assembly. Eleanor Roosevelt, its leading author, predicted that it would become "the international Magna Carta of all men everywhere."

Webster University is committed to education that advances human rights. The College of Arts & Sciences has designated this anniversary year as "The Year of International Human Rights" at Webster University. We urge you to read, reflect upon, discuss, and promote the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

As a worldwide university with the mission of preparing global citizens, we can do no better than to be guided by what has truly become the international Magna Carta of all men and women everywhere.
