Cruising for Knowledge
Learning need not be dull, as two students from the Orlando (FL) campus's gerontology program found out this spring.

Ramon Prendergast and Steven Armesto, students in GERN 5640 Management of Programs of Older Adults, accompanied instructor Dr. Elizabeth Serapin on an April cruise
to the Bahamas.
While in Nassau, the trio toured a facility for the elderly.
Serapin and her students observed with interest how another
country is dealing with an aging population. "One of
the most interesting aspects was the longevity of the caregivers in the facility. Many had over 20 or 30 years working at the same place," she said.
Steven Armesto was impressed with the nursing home's operation. "My overall impression of the facility was that it was run with a great deal of compassion and pride as far as the staff is concerned," he said.
