Vandana Shiva Advocates 'Soil Not Oil' at March 31 Talk

Environmentalist, scientist, and activist Vandana Shiva spoke
March 31, 2009, at the Community Music School Concert Hall to an enthusiastic crowd 0f 350. The audience comprised members of the Webster community as well as many people from the surrounding area.

The title of Shiva's talk, "Soil Not Oil," summed up her message:
The world needs to return to basic farming methods and decrease its dependence on large-scale, corporation-driven agriculture. The talk was co-sponsored by the Year of International Human Rights: The Right to Food & Water, Campus Activities, and the Multicultural Center/ International Student Affairs.
